Abstract
Objective To discuss diagnostic and treatment methods and curative ettects of Chiari malformation with syringomyelia(CM-SM).Methods Ten patients hospitalized from January 2009 to January and diagnosed by MRI with CM-SM were chosen.Based on their conditions,they were respectively applied with small bone window posterior fossa decompression,cerebellar tonsillectomy,cistern magna reconstruction and empty-subarachnoid shunt.All patients were given follow-ups within half to one year after operation.Nine patients accepted magnetic resonance imaging.Results The outcomes were evaluated by Tator criterion.Nine cases were effective,1 case non-effective,the total efficiency being 90 ％ and death rate being zero.Conclusion MRI is the most reliable method of Chiari malformation with syringomyelia for diagnosis and postoperative evaluation for such patients.Small bone window posterior fossa decompression,cerebellar tonsillectomy,cistern magna reconstruction and empty-subarachnoid shunt are effective and safe treatment methods.关键词
