Abstract
Objective To examine whether over expression of Bmi-1 is associated with colon carcinoma characteristics,we evaluated Bmi-1 expression in colon tissue and in primary and lymphonode metastatic tissues of different Dukes stages colon carcinoma.Methods Immunohistochemical staining for Bmi-1 was carried out on paraffin-embedded tissues from 64 colon carcinoma patients who had undergone radical surgery.The correlation of Bmi-1 expression to clinicopathologic features of colon carcinoma was analyzed.Results The intensive positive rate of Bmi-1 in colon carcinoma was 62.5% (40/64),which was 12.5% (8/64)in the colon tissue beside tumor tissue.Compare with the colon tissue beside tumor tissue,Bmi-1 over expression is common in colon carcinoma (P < 0.05).There was no Bmi-1 expression in colonic polyp tissues.The intensive expression of Bmi-1 was positively correlated to Ducks stage and pathologic grade (P < 0.05).Conclusions The intensive expression of Bmi-1 in colon carcinoma is related to tumor progression.关键词
