Abstract
Craniopharyngioma (CP),originated from the remnants of the fetal Rathke pouch,is a common congenital tumor of the sellar area in children.Surgical removal of the tumor remains the primary treatment.However the hypothalamus pituitary function is affected in varying degrees in most children after operation,leading to a series of symptoms associated with multiple pituitary hormone deficiency (MPHD).Growth hormone (GH) is significant to children diagnosed with CP,and prolonged insufficient GH would affect the normal growth and development,even mentality in CP children.Recombined human growth hormone (rhGH) therapy has definite effect on short stature caused by growth hormone deficiency.Effective and timely replacement therapy is of rapid catch-up growth effect.Overall,rhGH replacement therapy is safe,which neither increases the risk of new malignant tumors nor increases the recurrence rate of the central nervous system tumors.Nevertheless,there is still a necessity for further research.关键词
