Altered expression and prognostic significance of cor tactin in colorectal cancer

Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the alteration of cortactin (CTTN) expression in colorectal cancer (CRC) and its correlation with clinico-pathological characteristics and prognosis. METHODS:Immunohistochemistry method was used to detect the expression of CTTN in 100 cases of CRC and adjacent normal tissues. The relationship between CTTN expression and clinico-pathological features and prognosis of the patients was evaluated. RESULTS:Positive rate of CTTN expression in colorectal cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent normal tissues (P<0.01). Expression of CTTN was correlated with depth of tumor invasion (P=0.037). A Kaplan-Meier survival analysis revealed that the patients with CTTN expression had a shorter overall survival (OS) than those with negative CTTN (P=0.014). CONCLUSION:CTTN overexpression was a common event,and seemed to be a poor prognostic factor for colorectal cancer.关键词
