On the Metaphor of Color Words in Alice Walker's The Color Purple
摘要
Abstract
One unique artistic feature of The Color Purple,a novel named after a color, is the employment of multiple meta-phors of color words.Celie’s pursuit and final possession of purple and red stand for her uneven path of self-independence;Shug’s wearing red and black symbolizes her unyielding character and dignity;the argument of God is black starts the point of the journey of spiritual liberation of black women .These groups of color words help to gain a deeper insight into the essence of the themes in the novel.关键词
