Abstract
As an outstanding critical realism writer, Thomas Hardy profoundly exposes and bitterly satires the social problems of British society. Jude, the protagonist of Jude the Obscure, with great ambition for career and love, makes great efforts to pur-sue his ideal but tragically he is consumed by the merciless social reality of darkness.By depicting Jude's fate and the course of his hard fighting against the society, the novel shows Hardy's melioristic thought.关键词
