Abstract
A maternal near miss case is defined as a woman who nearly dies but survives a complication that occurs during pregnancy , childbirth or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy .Maternal near miss review has been considered effective supplement to maternal deaths review , and it is shown to be an important strategy to assess and improve the quality of maternal health care .This article reviewed the different criteria used to identify maternal near miss , especially the set of criteria developed by WHO in 2009 and their validity , as well as the importance of introducing maternal near miss review into China .关键词
