摘要

Abstract

The next generation sequencing (NGS), also known as high-throughput sequencing technology, is a landmark of revolution in the history for DNA sequencing. NGS have adopted a new sequencing strategy-cyclic-array sequencing, which was divided into pyrosequencing (Roche/454), Solexa sequencing technology (Illumina), the polony sequencing technology (ABI/SOLiD), Polonator sequencing technology and HeliScope single-molecule sequencing technology. Because of its high-throughput, low cost and short time-consuming, NGS has the potential to replace traditional Sanger sequencing and to become the most important research tools in post-genomic era.Researchers could do more comprehensive and in-depth analysis with genome, transcriptome and proteome at cheaper price. NGS has broad application prospects in the field of cancer research. In addition to accomplishing the tumor genome sequencing quickly, it also provides us a fully and rapidly powerful digital tool for tumor transcriptome, epigenetic and DNA-protein interaction analysis. It is expecting to bring about revolutionary change in the areas of life science, medicine science and others.
