Preparation of Carboxymethyl Cellulose with High-Degree Substitution From Bagasse

Abstract
Cellulose was obtained from bagasse by pretreatment with NaOH/H2O2 aqueous solution. Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) with a high degree of substitution (DS) of 1.32 was prepared from bagasse through once alkalization and twice etherification process. The structure of the prepared samples was characterized by infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric (TGA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The viscosity property of the CMC sample was also studied.关键词
