Influence of Medieval Religion and Technology on Human Ecological Thought-Exploring the Root of Ecological Crisis in Middle Ages
摘要
Abstract
Since the middle ages,instrument rationalism and utilitarianism have began to dominate the way of human thinking and behavior,and then the relationship between man and nature became more complex and even strained.Therefore,the true origin of the contemporary ecological crisis can be traced back to the Middle Ages.The religion and technology in Middle Ages deeply influenced human's ecological thought.Mid-dle Ages,as a religion time,triggered a thorough revolution of natural idea.The idea of reference for nature in ancient Greece was subverted,instead it was replaced by the raising of human's principle status to nature . Middle Ages,also as a technology time,gave rise to practical technical rationality and technological optimism, which strengthened the understanding of natural resource utilization.The pursuit for knowledge of scientific spirits when facing nature that did not seek practical benefits was veiled by the material benefits,which was brought by practical technology.How to carry out effective disclosure work is an arduous mission in modern ecological civilization times.关键词
