Accurate modeling of the spiral bevel gear based on the tracing line cutting method

Abstract
In order to discuss the method for accurate modeling of the spiral bevel gear,a accurate modeling method for the spiral bevel gear by using MATLAB and the macro program of CATIA is proposed, based on the study of the theory of the tracing line cutting method. An analysis was made of the formation mechanism of the tooth profile and tooth surface of the spiral bevel gear, a determination was made of the boundary of the tooth surface of a spiral bevel gear, the pitch cone helix angle was obtained by utilizing the base cone spiral angle of the spiral bevel gear and a precise model of the right-handed spiral bevel gear was established. The results show that the modeling theory is correct and the method is simple and feasible. The results provide a basis for subsequent studies such as finite ele-ment analysis of the spiral bevel gear.关键词
