Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling Algorithm for H.264 Decoding Based on Heterogeneous Multicore Platform

Abstract
Heterogeneous multi-core is the trend of the development of embedded processors architecture, for its enormous advantage on the processing of complex video coding and decoding computation. The issue of energy consumption also becomes a bottleneck that cannot be ignored. This paper proposes a Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling(DVFS) algorithm based on H.264, which reduces energy consumption by predicting the workload of the frame decoding and scaling the processor’s voltage and frequency. Experimental results indicate that the approach can reduce about 20%of the energy consumption at least.关键词
