Abstract

Low earth orbit (LEO) early warning satellites can be able to monitor and track the ballistic missiles in the midcourse trajectory, and make countermeasures on the foe’s LEO early warning satellites. In view of some drawbacks that the satellites’flight track is lower, the sensitivity of their sensors higher, the more demand of information transmission in real-time but the platform is hard to restore due to its weakness and the constellation netting is used and other factors, this paper analyzes the possibilities of implementing the countermeasures on them. From the prospective of hard destruction and soft kills, the following five sorts of countermeasure technologies can be employed, which are the anti-satellite missiles, infrared decoy projectiles, ground-based laser weapons, anti-satellite satellites and space aircraft weapons .By using the AHP method, those five countermeasure modes are compared, and the comparison results indicate that the anti-satellite satellites and space aircraft weapons are the optimum ones for implementing the satellite countermeasures in the future to come.
