Solid Fraction Determination and the Flow Property of CO2 Hydrate Slurry

Abstract
CO2 hydrate slurries are two-phase fluids composed of hydrate crystals in suspension in a liquid phase .The interest in CO2 hydrate slurries is not limited to CO 2 capture and storage for the ever increasing CO 2 concentration in the atmosphere .One of the applications relates to secondary refrigeration due to the high latent heat of melting CO 2 hydrates and used as phase-change materials.Moreover, the melting temperatures of CO2 hydrate slurries are consistent with the temperature need in cool storage ap-plications such as air conditioning .However , the investigation of the parameters of CO 2 hydrate slurries and the approaches to de-termine the parameters are essential for safe and efficient application .In this paper, the methods to determine various parameters of CO2 hydrate slurries are discussed, including CO2 solubility in the presence of gas hydrate, apparent viscosity, and the rheo-logical property .Based on the mass balance of CO 2 in different states , a solid fraction model is proposed which can be used to calculate the solid fraction of CO2 hydrate slurries.The flow property of CO2 hydrate slurries are studied experimentally .The re-sults show a transition zone for CO2 hydrate slurries at the flow velocity of 0.6~0.65m/s.At v<0.6m/s, the rheological index is lower than 1 and it decreases with the increase of solid fraction .This research work provides significant guide for the develop-ment and practical application of CO 2 hydrate slurries .关键词
