Abstract

Soil organic carbon(C)is greatly influenced by soil management practices. Here we compared the effects of different soil conser-vation measures on soil organic C fractions in nectarine orchard. There were three soil management practices:slope plus clean tillage(T1), terrace plus clean tillage(T2)and terrace plus sod culture(Arachis pintoi mulching)(T3). Soil organic C content in T3 orchard was 46.5%higher than in T1 and 15.3% higher than in T2. Compared with T1, the contents of particulate organic C(POC), light fraction of organic C (LFOC), dissolved organic C(DOC)and microbial biomass C(MBC)increased by 17.6%, 60.4%, 6.5%and 42.2% in T2 orchard, and 30.9%, 112.7%, 24.3% and 45.3% in T3 , respectively. Resistant organic C content in T3 was over 39% greater than in T1 or T2. Our results show that sod culture would increase soil organic C and improve soil fertility.
