Measuring Technology Coverage in Different Domains and Its Inspirations

Abstract
Measuring and comparing the technology coverage of different domains have great significance in grasping the law of inventions and improving R&D efficiency. Choosing the given patent dataset in Derwent Innovations Index, employing technology co-classification analysis, the issue of measuring technology coverage is explored by using four indicators. The results show that the area of polymers and plastics has the widest scope in terms of technology coverage;and the areas of computing and controls, refractories-ceramics-cement and organics electroplating have the comparatively wide scope of technology coverage.关键词
