The Moderating of Technology Scouting on the Relationship between Innovation Openness and Innovation Orientation

Abstract
The value of technology scouting in open innovation has been perceived to some extent in current researches, but the positio-ning of the function of technology scouting and empirification of its effect are still in absence. On the basis of systematic literature com-bing, the article puts forward the concept that technology scouting plays a moderating role in open innovation, and the object of its moder-ating effect is the relationship between innovation openness and innovation orientation. Then, a structural model is constructed and research hypotheses are raised. After that, the article uses large sample of questionnaire data collected in a survey to test and verify the above model and hypotheses. The conclusions indicate: technology scouting has significant positive moderating effect between explorative innovation openness and explorative innovation, while the supposed same effect between exploitative innovation openness and exploitative innovation is not supported by the sample data collected. Therefore, firms should choose appropriate emphasis on open innovation according to its own practice and capability in technology scouting.关键词
