摘要

Abstract

Channel slope deformation failures of deep excavated canal usually occur during construction and seriously threaten the construction and operation safety of the canal. For exploring the failure mode and genesis of channel slope of South-to-North Water Diversion Project, we analyze expansive soil characteristics and its geological genesis combing with the geological sit-uation revealed by excavation and long-term monitoring data. The failure modes can be classified as crack by water loss-disin-tegration by water absorption, gully by rain erosion, slope failure and slurry flows, slope landslide, and the treatment measures for channel slope failure are proposed accordingly.
