摘要

Abstract

In order to get a better understanding of kapok fiber and yarn, properties of kapok fiber and kapok blended yarn were tested. The result shows that kapok fiber is a kind of short, fine, and hollow fiber with thin cell wall and smooth surface;kapok fiber performed excellently in moisture absorption while poorly in strength and extension property. The infrared spectra of kapok fiber displayed that kapok fiber is cellulose crystalⅠ. Compared with pure cotton yarn and pure modal yarn, kapok blended yarn exhibited worse evenness, more neps, lower breaking strength, and more hairiness.
