Application of helical ribbon stirrer in the reactor for dilute acid pretreatment of lignocellulose

Abstract
A helical ribbon stirrer was equipped into the reactor to test if the mixing problem could be solved.The cellulose conversions after 72 hours enzymatic hydrolysis of 77.55% and 87.11% in the pretreatment with agitation were obtained when the sulfuric acid dosage reached 2.0%, and 2.5%( m/m) ,respectively,it increased by 7.6% and 2.4% compared with those in statical pretreatment.The level of inhibitors generated from the pretreatment remarkably decreased.CFD was applied to illustrate the improvement of the pretreatment with agitation.CFD modeling showed that the mixing of the steam and corn stover improved with the agitation speed increased.关键词
