Abstract
Objective To study the therapeutic effect of trigonella foenum greacum. L saponin(TFGs)on blood lipid and liver lipid deposition in rats with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Methods A rat model of high-fat diet induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease was established. Rsts were then treated with different dosages of TFGs (low,middle and high dose)for 5 weeks. The blood lipids,liver lipid deposition,liver index (ratio of liver weight/body weight)and hepatocyte steatosis were examined. Results The serum total cholesterol (TC)levels de-creased to (2.72±0.26)mmol/L,(2.69±0.57)mmol/L and (2.12±0.38)mmol/L,respectively,and the low density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C)decreased to (1.50±0.16)mmol/L,(1.59±0.33)mmol/L and (1.15±0.24)mmol/L,respec-tively,in rats with TFGs intervention at low,middle and high doses at the end of observation,which were all sig-nificantly lower than that in the non-treated models [TC was (3.58±1.08)mmol/L,and LDL-C was (1.60±0.18) mmol/L,(P<0.01)];In liver homogenates,TGFs treatment at low,middle and high doses decreased the TC by 67.4%, 66.7% and 63.1%,respectively(P<0.01),decreased the triglyceride(TG)by 56.0%,42.6% and 52.3%,respectively(P<0.01),and decreased the liver index by 12.1%,9.1% and 6.06%,respectively (P<0.01)as compared to those in non-treated models;Significant remission of steatosis in livers was observed in high TGFs groups by histopathology. Conclusion TFGs could decrease blood lipids and ameliorates liver lipid deposition in rats with high-fat diet induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and maybe become a promising remedy for this disorder in human.关键词
