Abstract
The Alexandria Digital Library (ADL) is one of the biggest and the longest digital library research projects in USA, headquartered at the University of California at Santa Barbara with funding through NSF DLI for ten years. The ADL is a distributed digital library with col ections of geo-referenced materials, providing not only services to its col ections and gazet eer but also their information management tools, such as the Feature Type Thesaurus for classing types of geographic features. This review examines various aspects of the library, including the project's background, organization of resources, service features, and technologies. Authors' comments are also given.关键词
