摘要

Abstract

Multiferroic magnetoelectric composite thin films have attracted great interest due to a variety of interesting physical phenomena such as the magnetoelectric coupling effect, ferroelectric field effect, exchange bias effect, tunneling electroresistance effect and their potential device applica-tions in high sensitive magnetic sensors, multistate memories, actuators etc.. In this paper, we briefly summarizes recent research progresses in the field of layered multiferroic magnetoelectric composite thin films that show a variety of interesting physical effects closely related to interface between the ferroelectric layer and the ferromagnetic layer. The strain effect, the ferroelectric field effect, and the competition between these two effects as well as magnetoelectric coupling in multiferroic heterostructures composed of perovskite manganite thin films grown on high perfor-mance ferroelectric single-crystal substrates are also briefly introduced. Finally, we propose a few suggestions for feature development of multiferroic magnetoelectric composite thin films.
