Abstract
Hedges play a very important role in verbal communication. Teacher talk in English classroom is a good entry point. Cooperative principles, politeness principles and face threatening acts are used to analyzed the hedges and further to explore the pragmatic functions, hoping to establish a harmonious classroom atmosphere by appropriate use of hedges and to organize the effi-cient teaching by more proper, polite and accurate classroom utterance.关键词
