摘要

Abstract

Left-handed material is a kind of new synthetic electromagnetic material in which the permittivity and permeability are all negative,and the group velocity of electromagnetic wave propagation is against the phase velocity. The radiation perfor-mance and the directivity of the antenna can be improved by using the slab lens focusing characteristic of the left-handed material. With this characteristic,a microstrip antenna based on left-handed materials is designed. The research results show that the beamwidth of half power can be reduced by 29° after uploading the left-handed material. The property that the left-handed materials can improve the directivity of the antenna was proved.
