Study on Insulin Resistance of Skeletal Muscle in Patients with Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the feature of insulin resistance, especial y insulin resistance of skeletal muscle, in Patients with Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes Mel itus. Methods:48 patients with newly diagnosed T2DM were enrol ed as T2DM group and another 20 participants with NGT were recruited as control group.Glycemic control, lipid profile, HOMA indices, and IMCL quantified by 1H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy were tested and compared.Results:In T2DM group, the HOMA-IR and IMCL in soleus and tibilis anterior muscles were higher than those in control group (P<0.05).The correlation analyses showed that IMCL was positively correlated to HOMA-IR, but not with BMI, waist to hip ratio and lipid profile. Conclusion:Insulin resistance exists in the skeletal muscle of patients with newly diagnosed T2DM. IMCL is a credible tissue marker for skeletal muscle insulin resistance, independent of obesity and lipid profile.关键词
