摘要

Abstract

The fluoride ion can affect the growth of many bacteria, such as Streptococcus mutans, Thiobacillus thiooxidans, and moderately thermoacidophilic iron-oxidizing bacteria et al. The bactericidal mechanisms of fluoride ion include the destruction of cell membrane structure, affecting the ATPase activity and inhibiting a variety of metabolic enzymes, such as enolase enzyme, etc. There are at least 3 fluoride resistant mechanisms in bacteria. Firstly, fluoride ion can synthesize organofluorine compounds. Secondly, the fluoride ribo-switch controls the expression of certain genes related to the fluoride resistance. Thirdly, fluoride can be transported by antiporter ( EriCF ) . As a result, it is very important to find fluoride resistance genes and clarify the resistant mechanism to fluoride. Such researches can help us to understand the resistant mechanisms of the other anions. Moreover, it can establish the foundation for solving problems of bacteria growth in environment with high concentration of fluoride and using fluoride ion to kill harmful bacteria.
