ESP还是 EGP--普通医学院校大学生对医学英语教学看法的调查研究
ESP or EGP:A survey of medical students'perceptions about medical English instruction at Chinese colleges and universities
摘要
Abstract
Based on ESP theory , this study reports on a survey carried out among 328 undergraduates of Hubei Medical College about their attitudes toward and perceptions about ESP -based English instruction and related problems .Major findings include: ①Although the students prefer ESP medical English to English for general purposes (EGP), most of them think that EGP study should be done for some time before ESP study;②The students still hold that ESP medical English courses should focus on language skills ( mastery of technical terms and medical reading ) training while integrating medical knowledge into the course;③The students strongly disagree with the idea that English should be the only medium of instruction in ESP medical English teaching;④The students hope that their ESP teachers possess both English teaching proficiency and content-specific knowledge .Based on these findings, this paper concludes with suggestions for ESP medical teaching reform at China 's medical colleges and universities and future research .关键词
