Abstract
Objective To investigate the mental health status and personality characteristics of family members of patients with schizophrenia. Methods 116 patients with schizophrenia, treated in the psychiatric hospital from September 2011 to September 2012, were selected as respondents and were divided into the observation group. 116 urban residents with normal physical examination were selected as the normal group. To compare the two groups by questionnaire and to investigate the mental health status and personality characteristics of family members of patients with schizophrenia. Results The questionnaires results showed that the scores of the observation group were higher than that of the normal group. And the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.01). Conclusion The mental health levels of family members of patients with schizophrenia are generally low. There are many mental health problems in them. They need guidance and care. They need support so as to build up confidence. The psychological intervention is helpful for the mental health of family members of patients with schizophrenia.关键词
