The prevention of complications for elderly patients receiving laparoscopic cholecystectomy

Abstract
Objective The experience and lessons of patients over 75 years old,who receiving laparoscopic cholecystectomy were studied, and the measures to increase thesuccess rate and prevent complications were investigated. Methods The clinical data of 167 patients with gallstone, who all over 75 years old and receiving laparoscopic cholecystectomy were studied retrospectively, including 93 cases suffering from acutecholecystitis and 3cases suffering from common bile duct stones. Results The success rate of laparoscopic cholecystectomy is 97.6%, and 4 cases transiting to laparotomy. Postoperative complications occurred in 18 cases (10.8%) and 2 cases were dead (1.2%). Conclusion Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a safe and effective method to treat elderly patients with gallbladder disease. The stress ability is impaired in elderly patients and they are always suffering other medical disease, so the postoperative complication is common. For these reasons we must grasp the timing of surgery, use the surgical techniques flexibly, and strengthen perioperative treatment, in order to prevent complications effectively.关键词
