Investigation on the current situation of the staffs in psychiatric specialist hospitals in Liaoning province in 2013

Abstract
Objective To understand the current situation of the staffs in psychiatric specialist hospitals in Liaoning province and to provide a scientific basis for implementing the Mental health law of the people's Republic of China and formulating relevant policies, measures of mental health. Methods Self-made questionnaires were used to investigate the current situation of human resources of the 84 psychiatric specialist hospitals in Liaoning province. Results There were in 84 psychiatric specialist hospitals of Liaoning 8615 employees totally, among which, 1509(17.5%) were psychiatrists, 3451(40.0%) were psychiatric nurses, 999(11.6%) were medical technicians, 2692(31.2%) were managers ranging from office staffs to support staffs. There were 107(7.1%) psychiatrists with graduate degree and 822(54.5%) psychiatrists with bachelor degree. There were 4(0.1%) psychiatric nurses with graduate degree and 615(17.8%) psychiatric nurses with bachelor degree. There were 994(65.9%)psychiatrists which from municipal and provincial level psychiatric specialist hospitals, 515(34.1%) psychiatrists which from county and township level psychiatric specialist hospitals. There were 2535(73.5%) psychiatric nurses which from municipal and provincial level psychiatric specialist hospitals, 916(26.5%) psychiatric nurses which from county and township level psychiatric specialist hospitals. Conclusion In our province, the problems of lack of high-quality mental health specialists and obvious regional differences of human resources also exist, which urges us to strengthen the training of the county mental health specialists.关键词
