Effect of Nape Eight-needle Acupuncture on Neck Pain Caused by Cervical Radiculopathy with Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire

Abstract
Objective:To estimate the clinical effect of nape eight -needle acupuncture on the neck pain caused by cervical radiculopathy with short -form McGill pain questionnaire .Methods: 60 patients suffered from cervical radiculopathy were randomized into a treatment group and a control group ,with 30 in each group . The treatment group was intervened by nape eight -needle acupuncture therapy while the control group was by cervical traction therapy .All the patients received treatment three times a week , and we regarded one week as one course ,with two courses in all .Short-form McGill pain questionnaire was adopted to assess the clinical effect of nape eight -needle acupuncture and cervical traction before and after treatments .Results:After one and two courses ’ treatment , PRI-sensory subscore , PRI-affective subscore , total score , VAS and PPI score in both groups decreased obviously with highly significant differences ( P<0 .01 ) .After one course ’ s treat-ment, improvement rates of PRI -affective subscore and PPI score in treatment group increased more obviously than those in control group , and there were statistically significant differences ( P<0 .05 );while improvement rates of PRI-sensory subscore , total score and VAS score in treatment group increased more obviously than those in control group, and there were highly significant differences (P<0.01).After two courses'treatment, improvement rates of PPI score in treatment group increased more obviously than those in control group , and there were statistically significant differences ( P<0 .05 );while improvement rates of PRI -sensory subscore , PRI-affective subscore , total score and VAS score in treatment group increased more obviously than those in control group with highly significant differences (P<0.01).Conclusion:Compared with cervical traction thera-py, nape eight-needle acupuncture therapy could more remarkably improve neck pain and psychologic status of patients who suffer from cervical radiculopathy .关键词
