Abstract
Objective To examine while cellcount in prostate secretion from benign hyperplasia prostate (BHP) patients with elevated serum PSA. Methods Prostate secretion samples were obtained from 53 BHP patients with elevated PSA before transrectal prostatic biopsy or transurethal resection of prostate.The number of leukocytes in the prostate secretion was counted, and the correlation of white cellcount with age, PSA and prostate volume was analyzed. Results The white cellcount and the density of white cells in prostate secretion were significantly correlated with serum PSA levels. Conclusion Serum PSA levels may be associated with the increased white cellcount in prostate secretion, which indicating that antibiotics should be given to BHP patients with elevated serum PSA to avoid unnecessary prostate biopsy.关键词
