Biophotons in Relation to the Neural Signal Transmission and Processing
摘要
Abstract
The processing of neural information in neural circuits plays key roles in neural functions .It is well accepted that neural communication is mediated by bioelectricity and chemical molecules via the processes called bioelectrical and chemical transmission, respectively, which mainly occur in axons and synapses .Indeed, they seem to provide reasonable explanations for the basic functions and neural encoding of the nervous system , but difficultly to construct general accepted concepts or principles to provide reasonable explanations of neural functions and mental activities , such as perception , learning and memory , emotion and consciousness , etc.It has recently been suggested that biophotons , also called ultra-weak photon emissions , may play a potential role in neural signal transmission and processing , contributing to the understanding of the high functions of nervous system .In this paper , we briefly review the relevant experimental studies and theoretical hypothesis on neural signal transmission and processing via biophotons , and the possible mechanisms .关键词
