Abstract
Objective To summarize the experiences in treating postoperative recurrence of congenital muscular torticollis in 29 cases. Methods A retrospective analysis of the clinical and follow-up data of 29 postoperative recurrence cases of congenital muscular torticollis from January 1998 to January 2013 were carried out. All the patients were treated with bipolar release of sternocleidomastoid muscle, postoperative occipital-jaw traction for 1 month, and wearing of chest-neck brace for 3-6 months. Results Long-term follow-up (11 months to 10 years) were obtained for all cases. The skew neck symptoms disappeared in most of the patients and neck activity was not significantly limited. The clinical effect was apparent. Conclusion Bipolar release of sternocleidomastoid muscle combined with postoperative occipital-jaw traction and wearing of chest-neck brace is a more effective treatment for postoperative recurrence cases of congenital muscular torticollis.关键词
