奥康纳小说中的存在主义困境
The Predicament of Existentialism in Flannery O'Connor's Short Stories
摘要
Abstract
Flannery O’Connor, compared with Faulkner,is considered as one of the greatest writers in south of America. She exerted a great influence in literature all over the world.Religion and the South are the two impor-tant elements in her works. From another perspective, her novels reveal the predicament of existentialism. The short stories collection “A good man is hard to Find”is taken as an example for analysis:firstly, the novel con-veys a sense of disgust. It could be felt in both the environment and the description of the character.Secondly, the relationship between human beings is worse than ever.People could feel only isolation and torture.Thirdly, although the society is full of varied choices, people are bewildered by the few options they could take.Still, some anti-heroes make relentless efforts to pursue their goals.Fourthly, the novel questions the meaning of reli-gion by describing some stereotyped priest.关键词
