General development of traditional Chinese medicine in communities in Shenzhen

Abstract
Objective To study the current situation of the development of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in Shenzhen and to provide policy basis for the further development of traditional Chinese medicine in community.Methods The service of TCM of all community health service centers in Shenzhen was investigated from 2009 to 2011 and the data was analyzed using descriptive statistic analysis method by SPSS 16.0 software.Results The number of community health service centers which set Chinese medicine clinic or pharmacy of traditional medicine increased year by year in each area from 2009 to 2011;the number of community health service centers with Chinese medicine clinic and with pharmacy of traditional medicine increased to 50.33％ and 80.79％ in 2011,respectively;however,the average number of TCM physicians in each community health service center was only 0.70,0.63,and 0.72 in the three consecutive years.Though the average number of Chinese medicine outpatient service and its proportion in the total number of outpatient and emergency increased,the proportion was still not high.Besides,the average species of medicine were (137.31±120.70) in 2009 and increased to (152.76± 17.47) in 2011.The development of TCM was different in each area in the three years.Conclusions The service of TCM in community developed rapidly in Shenzhen but was unbalanced among each area.The construction of TCM resources needs to be strengthened and the service system of TCM improved.关键词
