Abstract
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, conflicts between Christians and Chinese local people were a prominent focus of contradiction between China and the West.They appeared earlier in Jiangsu, and stopped earlier too.In terms of intensity, the conflicts were less serious in Jiangsu than in the northern neighboring provinces and regions north of the Yangtze River suffered more.The multiple reasons include conflicts between the Chinese and western culture as well as between imperialism and the Chi-nese people.There are nationwide social reasons and unique ones in Jiangsu area.关键词
