Abstract
Public English course is a basic course for the students of higher vocational colleges. Due to the different orientation of the training objectives, the construction of public English course in higher vocational col-leges is different. there exist Problems such as curriculum setting, teaching material construction, teachers' team construction, professional teaching standards and test standards which directly affect the level and quality of public English teaching. Some ideas and constructive suggestions regarding to these problems are put forward in this paper.关键词
