摘要

Abstract

In order to improve the energy efficiency of the large scale multiuser multi-input multi-output (MU-MIMO) downlink system,energy efficiency optimization based on transmitting antenna selection is proposed in this paper. A new power consumption model is established,which considers not only the trans-mitting power but also the circuit power consumption. Based on this model,the effects of the number of transmitting antennas at the base station and the number of users at the receiver on the total power con-sumption as well as the energy efficiency are discussed respectively,and a detailed energy efficiency per-formance comparison is also made between the proposed antenna selection and the one using all of the transmitting antennas. Mathematical analysis and numerical simulations reveal that there exists an optimal number of selected antennas to maximize the energy efficiency,and the proposed antenna selection scheme in large scale MU-MIMO system can improve the energy efficiency significantly. Especially, when the number of users is 10,and the transmitting power is 40 W and 10 W,compared with that using all of the given transmitting antennas,the proposed antenna selection scheme achieves nearly 12% and 78% gain in energy efficiency,respectively.
