摘要

Abstract

A PSCAD/EMTDC based transmission tower model has been constructed. According to the actual situation of lightning-struck transmission lines and considering three kinds of lightning strike conditions, i.e., the top of the tower, the middle of the span and the conductor were lightning struck, the lightning current distribution throughout the transmission line and the tower was analyzed, and the analysis results could provide theoretical basis for installing lightning current monitoring coils on transmission towers. Rational configuration of lightning current monitoring coils makes the monitoring of the thunderbolt, which strikes onto local tower, the middle of the span and several adjacent towers, possible, thus the number of the installed monitoring devices can be reduced and lightning current waveforms can be acquired as more as possible. Synthetically considering the inversion of the collected lightning current waveforms, the installation positions of lightning current monitoring coils are located eventually.
