Abstract

Fine-estimation of composite insulators can provide more accurate information related to the aging state of composite insulators, however, the sampling method during the estimation not only influences on the judgment of the aging state of the insulator and its residual life, but also closely relates to the test efficiency. Taking more than one hundred composite insulator strings as research objects, flaky specimens with uniform thickness are achieved by self-developed slicer and by means of Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FTIR) technology the sampling method for aging state fine-estimation of composite insulators is systemically researched. Through the FTIR tests performed to the specimens located at different depths from the upper surface of the shed, the referential specimens, which are used to reflect the noumenal characteristics of the material in follow-up research, are determined; through the testing of the specimens of composite insulators, which are produced by different manufactures and located at different operation environments, the impacts of the sampling schemes on the aging estimation are researched; through testing and analysis on the specimens from the sheds located at different positions of the insulator and the specimens from different directions of the shed, the influencing rule of slicing schemes on aging state estimation of composite insulators is explored, and then a set of sampling methods suitable for on-site aging state fine-estimation of composite insulators is put forward, which can provide theoretical basis in a certain extent for the application of composite insulators in UHV projects and the drafting of related standards.
