Effects of Recombinant Porcine Epidermal Growth Factor on Growth Performance of Early-Weaner Piglets

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of recombinant porcine epidermal growth factor ( pEGF) on growth performance of early-weaner piglets. One hundred and sixty healthy weaner piglets ( Large×White×Landrace) at 21 days of age were randomly allocated to 4 groups ( 4 replicates per group and 10 piglets per replicate):high grade creep feed+500μg/kg pEGF ( GE) group, high grade creep feed control ( GD) group, median grade creep feed+500 μg/kg pEGF ( ZE ) group, median grade creep feed control ( ZD) group. The trial lasted for 10 days. The results showed as follows:1) compared with GD group, aver-age daily gain ( ADG) in GE group was significantly increased by 6. 29% ( P<0. 05); compared with ZD group, ADG in ZE group was significantly increased by 17.08% (P<0.01). 2) Average daily feed intake ( ADFI) was no significant difference between groups GE and GD ( P>0.05);compared with ZD group, AD-FI in ZE group was significantly increased by 4.91% ( P<0.05) . 3) Compared with GD group, feed/gain ( F/G) in GE group was significantly reduced by 4.31% ( P<0.05);compared with ZD group, F/G in ZE group was significantly reduced by 10.37% ( P<0.05) . 4) Compared with GD group, diarrhea rate in GE group was reduced by 57.14%; compared with ZD group, diarrhea rate in ZE group was reduced by 38.46%. It is con-cluded that adding pEGF in the diets can improve feed conversion ratio, and reduce F/G and diarrhea rate, which improving growth performance and reducing weight gain cost.关键词
