Effects of Parity and Stage of Lactation on Milk Component Precursor and Lactation Related Hormone Contents in Blood of Holstein Dairy Cows
摘要
Abstract
This experiment was conducted to study the effects of parity and stage of lactation on milk compo⁃nent precursor and lactation related hormone contents in blood of Holstein dairy cows. Sixty Holstein dairy cows from parity 1 to 4 with different stages of lactation were selected and fed the same total mixed ration. The blood samples were collected every 15 days and then were evaluated for the contents of glucose ( GLU) , triglyceride ( TG) , non⁃esterified fatty acid ( NEFA) , β⁃hydroxybutyric acid ( BHBA) , total amino acid ( T⁃AA) , thy⁃roxine ( T4) , growth hormone ( GH) , cortisol ( COR) , insulin ( INS) , prolactin ( PRL) and progesterone ( PRG) . Data was analyzed for their Gaussian distribution using Proc Univeriate, and was statistically pro⁃cessed by Proc Mixed using a linear model to assess the fixed effects of parity, stage of lactation in SAS 9.2. The results were showed as follows:1) blood INS and PRL contents were significantly affected by parity ( P<0.05), while blood COR, GH, PRG, T4 and five MCP contents were not significantly affected (P>0.05). 2) With the extending of lactation stage, blood GLU content was increased gradually, and early lactation (0 to 21 days) was significantly lower than the other lactation stages ( P<0.05) , while blood BHBA and NEFA con⁃tents of early lactation were significantly higher than those of the other lactation stages ( P<0.05) , meanwhile, blood T⁃AA content of mid⁃lactation ( 22 to 100 days) was significantly higher than that of the other lactation stages ( P<0.05);blood COR, GH, PRG, T4 and INS contents were significantly influenced by stage of lac⁃tation ( P<0.05) , but no significant effect was found on blood PRL content ( P>0.05) , among those, blood COR content of early lactation was significantly higher than that of mid⁃and late lactation ( 201 to 305 days) ( P<0.05) , and blood GH, PRG and T4 contents were higher at late lactation. The outcomes of this work will improve the accuracy of the biochemical profile as a tool for dairy practitioners to assess the metabolic status of lactating Holstein dairy cows.关键词
