Effects of Lactobacillus plantarum GF103 on the Growth Performance, Nutrient Digestibility and Fecal Microbiota Numbers in Growing Pigs
摘要
Abstract
The purpose of this present study was to evaluate the effects of dietary Lactobacillus plantarum GF103 on the growth performance, nutrient digestibility and fecal microbiota numbers in growing pigs. A total of 300 growing pigs, whose average body weight was (26.36±1.93) kg, were allotted to 1 of 5 groups. The diets of these groups were basal control diet ( CON group ) , positive control diet containing 40 mg/kg zinc bacitracin (PC group), and experimental diets containing 1 × 109, 5 × 109 or 1 × 1010 CFU/kg Lactobacillus plantarum GF103, respectively ( T1, T2 and T3 groups) . The pre-test period lasted for 7 days, and the trial period lasted for 30 days. The results showed as follows: 1 ) the average daily gain ( ADG ) and average daily feed intake ( ADFI) of T1 group were significantly greater, whereas the ratio of feed to gain ( F/G) of T1 group was signif-icantly lower than those of other groups ( P<0.05) . The ADG, ADFI and F/G of T2 and T3 groups had no sig-nificant differences compared with CON or PC groups ( P>0.05) . The rate of diarrhea had no significant differ-ence between all groups ( P>0.05) . 2) The digestibility of total energy ( TE) , dry matter ( DM) , organic matter ( OM) , crude protein ( CP) and ether extract ( EE) of T1, T3 and CON groups were significantly greater than those of PC and T2 groups ( P<0.05) . The digestibility of neutral detergent fiber ( NDF) and phosphorus ( P) a-mong groups had no significant differences (P>0.05). 3) The number of fecal Lactobacilli of T1, T2 and T3 groups was significantly greater than that of CON and PC groups (P<0.05), and it was increased with the in-crease of dietary content of Lactobacillus plantarum GF103. There was no difference of E. coli among all groups ( P>0. 05 ) . However, the ratio of Lactobacilli to E. coli of T1 group had no significant difference with T3 group, and it was greater than that of other groups (P<0.05). In conclusion, Lactobacillus plantarum GF103, at a dietary concentration of 1×109 CFU/kg, can improve the environment of intestinal microbiota, and may serve as a potential alternative to antibiotic growth promoters to improve the growth performance in growing pigs.关键词
