Abstract
The methodology of landscape architectural design research turns out to be an important topic because it influences both the conception construction and social institution of the discipline. Landscape Architecture as a newly certified first-class discipline in China encounters the contradiction between “relevance” and “rigor” in the term of research methodologies. How can landscape architectural research methodologies be shaped into a system that is not only scientific certified but also consistent with the genuine characters of designerly thinking and design activities? Concerning the autonomy and healthy growth of landscape architecture as a first-class discipline in China, to enhance the relevance to design thinking within both research methodologies and research institutions,this article articulates the recognition of Design Research methodology in conception construction as wel as the enrichment of research subjects with the variety of backgrounds, especialy from the practitioners of planning and design. It is passive to consider landscape architectural research methodologies mere a response to the stress from the production of academic outcomes, because it is indeed the active impetus to the innovation of the discipline. Therefore, it is expected that our academic community performs profound reflections rooting into the tradition of culture and the existing academic legacy.关键词
