Abstract

Objective To analyze the anatomical structure of maxillary anterior teeth and to offer classification for the teeth by using cone beam computed tomography ( CBCT) , providing the data for formulating treatment plan before imme-diateimplantationinaestheticzone.Methods 100patients,including600maxillaryanteriorteeth,wererecruited.The thickness at 6 positions of labial and palatal bone wall was measured.The classifications were established based on the position and angulation of the teeth.Results There were 85.5% of anterior teeth belong to type Ⅰ, 5.2% belong to typeⅡ, and 9.3%belong to typeⅢ.The proportion of facial bone wall thickness <1 mm at P1(4 mm apical to the CEJ) and P2 (mid-root) was 78.3%, at P3 (apex) was 19.8%.Palatal bone wall thickness showed an increasing phe-nomenon from the crest to the apex, and a mean thickness of (8.06 ±2.40) mm at P6 (apex).The axial angles between the tooth and its relative alveolar process were categorized into three styles.Style A occupied 11%.While style B occu-pied 52%, 30.0%of which with undercut at the apical facial bone wall.Style C occupied 37%, 77% of which were deeper undercut.Conclusion Mostly, the facial bone wall of maxillary anterior teeth was thin (<1 mm), only 10.8%of the angular was less than 10°.According to the difficulty of achieving good results , all cases were categorized as levels 1to 3 and their recommendations were given.
