摘要
Abstract
Radiation therapy is one of the main treatments of head and neck cancer, it may cause radioactive xerostomia and other complications. Currently there is no ideal approaches to prevent and treat radioactive xerostomia. In recent years, evidence has shown salivary gland stem cells mainly locate in the larger excretory ducts of salivary glands. The stem cells could repair the structure and function of salivary gland after radiation damage. Protect salivary gland stem cells effectively in radiotherapy may relieve symptoms of dry mouth. The application of salivary gland stem cell transplants to repair damaged salivary gland has been validated in animal experiments. If the salivary gland stem cells can be applied to clinical scientifically and effectively, it is expected to improve the symptoms of dry mouth after radiotherapy, and improve the quality of life.关键词
