Abstract

The aromatic extraction performance of sulfolane (water content of 0.02%, 0.3%, 0.5%and 0.8%, respectively) for the liquid phase with the volume ratio of sulfoane and heavy naphtha 1:1~5:1 was determined under atmospheric pressure at temperature of 313.15K, 323.15K, 333.15K, 343.15K and 353.15K, respectively. The results show that the distribution coefficients of light aromatics are positively correlated with extraction temperature but inversely related to the volume ratio of sulfolane and heavy naphtha. The selectivity coefficient of light aromatics decreases when extraction temperature increases and increases when aromatic content in the raffinate phase decreases. However, the distribution coefficient and selectivity coefficient of heavy aromatics have little change with temperature and volume ratio. Sulfolane with 0.5% water shows good solubility and improved selectivity in the study.
