Synthesis of an Itaconic Polymerizable Emulsifier and Its Application in Nanoencapsulation of Polystyrene/Permethrin via Miniemulsion Polymerization

Abstract
Sodium sulfopropyl-lauryl-itaconate (a polymerizable emulsifier) was synthesized and used as a surfactant in the preparation of polystyrene /permethrin nanocapsules via miniemulsion polymerization. Effects of initiators, emulsifier contents, cross-linking agents and co-stabilizers on the morphology and encapsulation efficiency of the nanocapsules were investigated. Transmission electron microscope (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic (FT-IR), mass spectrometry (MS), hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum (1H-NMR) analysis were used to characterize the structure and properties of the nanocapsules. The results show that when the mass fraction of the emulsifier in oil phase is 1.33%, the obtained nanocapsules are highly uniform with an average diameter of 500 nm. Compared with water-soluble initiators, the use of an oil-soluble initiator can facilitate the encapsulation of permethrin. The addition of cross-linking agents and co-stabilizers are also helpful to encapsulate permethrin.关键词
